Welcome to Western Road
A long-established teaching practice, we aim to offer the highest standard of patient-centred care while helping to develop the next generation of doctors.
We run clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes, and offer a variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.
Dr Kate Haskell, GP Partner, after many years of dedicated service to this surgery has announced her retirement from general practice as from the 29th April 2019.
Dr Haskell will be dearly missed by patients, staff and friends of the surgery.
We would like to wish her a happy and healthy retirement.
We are also delighted to announce that Dr Yasmin Heerah will be joining the team of Partners as from 1st May 2019.

Atrial Fibrillation (AF)
In people over the age of 65 an irregular pulse can contribute to causing a stroke. We are now starting to screen people for this. If you're over 65 and no-one has checked your pulse then please ask your doctor or nurse to do this next time you see them.
People found to have certain kinds of irregularity will be offered an ECG and possibly medication to help prevent a stroke.

Western Road Medical Centre encourages our patients to stay as active as possible no matter what your age or ability, which is why we recommend Parkrun. Between us our staff have clocked up over 250 runs.
Parkrun organises a free, weekly, 5km, timed walk or run in a park near you at 9am every Saturday.
Locally this is Raphael's park and Harrow Lodge park and we encourage people of every age and ability to take part: children to octogenarians, beginners to expert club runners - all are welcome.

If the thought of walking or running 5 kilometers seems daunting there are plenty of resources to help you get started. The NHS's Couch to 5k app for your phone takes someone who can't run through a 9-week programme to get them running or jogging 5 kilometers.
