We're open
We recommend using a fragrance-free product, many of which are available to buy from a pharmacy without a prescription. We do not endorse a particular brand but the best emollient is the one that you prefer and are most likely to keep using. Some examples include Cetraben, Epaderm, Doublebase, Diprobase, Aveeno, Oilatum, E45. Speak to your pharmacist for advice, or your doctor may prescribe one if you have a formally diagnosed chronic skin condition such as Eczema or Psoriasis.
In general, these emollients should be applied in generous quantities a minimum of twice per day (4 times per day during flare ups). Please ensure that you apply the emollient in the “direction of the hair follicles”.
Emollient creams/ointments can also be used as soap substitutes for bath, shower and handwashing.
