Rescue Packs – asthma/COPD during COVID 19 crisis

The rescue packs being described in social media are not routinely being prescribed by GPs because they are not needed.

There are some people with COPD and poorly controlled asthma who might have had these prescribed in the past by their GP but we are not doing them routinely.

If you have asthma or COPD then we would ask you to continue as normal. If you use a preventer then continue to do so. If you have an asthma management plan then follow it.

The only time we will deviate from this is if people develop symptoms suggesting their asthma or COPD is causing problems. If you feel ill because of your asthma or COPD then please contact the surgery.
